Mother's Day

Since we camped out in the backyard the night before Mother's Day we had an easy going breakfast of fruit and donuts!  We followed that up with a bike ride along one of the local trails to a park for a picnic lunch and then back home.  For dinner, David grilled for me and 2 other friends whose husbands were gone.  We had a great time socializing and the kids loved playing together!  And what a good husband to take on 3 ladies (and all the kids) for our special day!

Base Lake

Saturday we headed out to Base Lake to do some fishing and to have dinner before Anderson and David went off to a Boy Scout Campout.  We had a great time but our plans quickly changed and we had a campout in our backyard [Insert Campout was Friday night] with hot dogs and smores.  I felt so bad for making the mistake but Anderson handled it like the champ he is.  Please notice how awesome we look sporting out Pack shirts!

Gardening

Our backyard here in Bellevue is huge, at least the biggest we've ever had!  Even with the swing set there's still plenty of room for more!  So David built me 2 garden boxes!  After spending a lot of time (days) prepping the garden (buying and mixing local soil, compost, vermiculite...) we were ready to plant!  We planted starter plants I bought, seedlings the kids started inside and seeds.  We are all so excited to see what comes of our hard work!

KCMO

This past weekend we took the short drive down to Kansas City to do a little exploring.  We've driven through KCMO plenty of times but we've never really stopped to check it out.  We left Friday after school.  Our first stop was the T-Rex Cafe, which is actually in Kansas City, Kansas but whatever;)  From there we headed over the state line and into Missouri to check in at our hotel.

Saturday we slept in and then headed to Donutology where you can make your own mini donut combinations!  Choose your donut flavor, frosting, topping and glaze!  It was a lot of fun and the donuts were good!  Once our bellies were full we headed to Legoland.  The kids had a blast and we spent a couple of hours there but David and I left a little disappointed.  It just wasn't as grand as we were expecting.  From there we managed to find our way to Fritz's while staying inside (it rained ALL weekend).  After a short wait we were sat and it was non-stop watch who's food was being delivered by the train fun!  Then it was back to the hotel to veg for a bit before heading out to dinner at Auther Bryant's, a famous BBQ joint.  After a long wait in line and them running out of burnt ends and beans we had our food and we were so bummed out.  It was ok but we really didn't see what all the hype was about.  Next time we'll try their rivals!

We slept in again on Sunday and once we were cleaned up we headed out for donuts!  See a theme!?! This go round was at LaMars-delicous!  I mean really!  From there we headed to SeaLife.  It was really nice but didn't take us too long to get through.  For lunch we had the buffet at Harvey's at Union Station and then we went into Science City.  That place was amazing!  I wanted to try everything.  If they had an adult night I'd totally be there!  After having enough fun there we hopped in the car for the short 2 1/2 hour drive home.  Overall it was a great weekend and I can't wait to go back, hopefully when it's not raining and explore some more!
