5 Days without Dad

We made it through our first 5 days without Dad, luckily Grandma was here to help!  I couldn't have done it without her!  Here's what happened while Dad was gone...Liam had his first bottle of expressed milk on Monday, June 25th.  He is a hungry boy and an hour and half after nursing he was ready to eat again so a bottle it was! He did great!  The weather here has been hot, hot, hot so we've been trying to find ways to stay cool-the teacher in me busted out the magnetic letters and cookie sheet and puzzles and Grandma did lots of reading.  Anderson had a few wipes outs-busting his lip open and then leaving teeth marks on his inside lip but he was a brave boy both times and let me clean him up and put on his Elmo ice pack.  Wednesday I had an appointment and everything is looking good!  I still cannot pick up the big kids or exercise other than walking. This recovery seems to be going so much better than last time.   We also had quite a few visitors this week!  Thursday a friend with a 4 month old visited and the kids took notice.  I'm guessing since each of us had a baby the kids decided they needed babies so they found babies in their toys bins and ever since they've been nurturing their babies-putting them in the chair, changing their diapers, holding them, giving the water and bottles, and burping them-all without any prompting.  Once David got home we took Liam on his first out to eat experience.  Callie was eager to help us get out the door!  We went to Newks!  As you can see from the pictures he totally enjoyed himself!  The last two pictures are of the doctor who delivered Liam and of the doctor we saw through out the pregnancy, who was supposed to deliver him until he changed plans!

5 Scotts and A Grandma

Alright, I'm ready to get back to my regular blogging!  We made it through week 2!  It started Monday when we dropped Grandpa off at the airport.  We then headed to base to take the big kids to the doctor for the congestion and coughs.  They were put on meds and I think they're finally starting to feel better!  Thankfully Baby Brother didn't catch it!  Wednesday Liam went to the doctor because his umbilical cord fell off on Tuesday and it didn't look quite right.  The doctor reassured us that everything was fine and his belly button now looks like a belly button and not a mucus bloody mess.  The rest of the week was spent with the big kids taking morning walks with Grandma, playing in the pool, eating popsicles, having lunch outside, playing outside (when it wasn't too hot), Liam taking his first "real" bath and Anderson and Callie holding Liam for the first time (sorry for the fuzzy pictures from the phone camera).  Things are getting into a good routine here and I am so thankful that Grandma is here to help out!  We couldn't be doing this without her!  The hardest part for me right now is not being able to lift Anderson and Callie.  Every time they need in the highchairs and cribs or when they just want to be picked up and hugged I can't do it...insert David and Grandma here.  Hopefully, only 4 more weeks until I can pick them up-right now that seems like an eternity away and I can only imagine how out of shape me arms and back will be by then!
