Home School

I haven't gotten too many pictures of the kids at home school lately but I've managed a few.  We've just been having too much fun!  So here are the past few weeks.  Highlights include-extracting chlorophyll from leaves, patterns, measuring, and exploding pumpkins bags-which Dad got to do with us!

Halloween Activities and Night

We've done a few Halloween activities this year.  Last Saturday the kids and I (David had to wait on the plumber/sewer guy) headed downtown to the Halloween Festival.  We had a good time and the kids did great but having three kids in a crowded, festival atmosphere is tiring!  My favorite quote of the day was from Anderson.  We stopped for pizza (free for kids in costumes) and I decided to get a Chardonnay.  About half way through my glass Anderson asks me, "Mom, how's your Chardonnay?" Guess that's what you get growing up in wine country!  I mean what other 5 year olds really know their wines!?!
Friday night we had a little costume party over here with a few of the families that David works with.  The kids always play nicely and the parents are fun too so we thought lets have a party!  As soon as all the kids had decided to be Paw Patrol I was like woohoo, the whole family is Paw Patrol!  I love a good theme!  So David and I got to work on our costumes and I think they turned out pretty great!  The party went well and the kids had fun playing Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin, Glow Stick Ring Toss (ok, the adults played this one too!), Donut Bobbing and just running around like crazies!
Halloween night we trick-or-treated around our culd-de-sac and boy did the kids get spoiled! 4 houses and their bags were full! Candy, pencils, light up toys, toothbrushes, glow sticks, toys...you can tell there haven't been kids here for awhile! From there we headed to our church's Halloween Festival and we had so much playing games, going on the bouncy and riding the hayride behind the tractor-he even did donuts! Hope y'all had a Happy Halloween.

Costumes at Dance

Boys 1st Baseball Practice

I think I've mentioned it on here before but we are taking this year to let the boys try all the different sports so that they can decide if they really like one.  Callie's pretty much picked dance so not too much exploring for her right now.  Today the boys had their first baseball practice and they did great! Both boys did great at batting and Liam was able to show everyone how to catch a grounder! Great work boys!

David's Birthday

This morning the kids were up and prepping for David's birthday with me while he "slept." They decorated his door, wrapped presents and set the table. We started the morning with donuts, egg bake and fruit.  Followed by presents!!! We then headed out for an almost 10 mile bike ride and playground fun. Once we were home we walked Beau, had lunch with homemade Reese's Cups and  took naps.  Once everyone was rested we headed out to a couple hours of cosmic bowling! The kids picked this as David's birthday party and we had so much fun! Dinner was a little crazy because the crock pot Mexican corn bread I had made wasn't ready so the the kids ate and then we did cupcakes. David and I had dinner later and watched a terrible, terrible 80 horror movie. Happy Birthday David! We love you!!!

Hockey

Today was the kids first hockey practice. There's a program here where they get to try it free for 5 weeks! So we signed everyone up to play! They were all so excited to go to their first practice. We got their gear about 2 weeks ago and had to wait until now to use it! Once everyone was geared up it was time to hit the ice. Anderson and Callie skated around with the help of buckets for about 39 minutes before complaining of being being tired and their heads hurting. Liam was in the ice and skated for about 2. The rest if the time he just hung out by the wall or threw a fit.  Everyone is excited to go back next week ever if we left 15 minutes before practice was over. And as we later found out other kids were told to practice wearing their helmets for 15 minutes a day to get used to them! Guess we'll do that this week and hopefully it'll help for next week!
