Today's Ultrasound Pictures

Today Grandma Boettger was able to experience her first ultrasound! The tech told her what we were looking for and pointed out a few extra things! Mom was really excited that she could identify the spine and ribs all by herself! Baby Boy and Baby Girl passed all areas of the test-a first! Yay! The kids also passed today's NST and our appointment with the doctor went well! My belly is measuring 34+. With all three appointments today (NST, doctor, and BPP) we were at the clinic from 9:30-11:45!

30 Weeks and Minot Baby Shower

Yay, we're at 30 weeks! And I'm feeling great! Mom has been up here this past week helping me get everything ready and with my "nesting!" We're making all sorts of cute things for the nursery-which I'll post pictures of when they're done. We're still missing David but we get to see him in just a few days! He has been busy preparing for the twins also-by shopping! He loves picking out outfits for the kids. He won't tell me what he bought though so I just have to wait and see! Yesterday we had a shower here in Minot and it was beautiful! I don't have many pictures from the shower yet so this one will have to do for now! As you can see in the pictures I'm growing "out" of a few of my clothes!

Cloth Diapers

Yesterday mom and I went over to Kelly's to learn how to make her amazing cloth diapers! We had so much fun and in the span of almost 4 hours we had 4 diapers completed and 4 more started! Not bad for one pro and two beginners. We don't plan on using cloth diapers right away-it'll be tough enough to make it through the day without having to worry about washing diapers every night. So we plan on starting cloth diapers when the kiddos are a few months old. The diapers have a fleece lining, a soak pad, and a waterproof shell (the yellow). Each diaper also has a series of snaps so that we can fit the diaper to the kiddo. I am also thinking of getting a thin flushable liner that you can place in the diaper so that all you have to do is grab the liner and poo and flush it down the toilet and finish by washing the diaper in the washing machine! But we have plenty of time to work out all the details!

What NSTs Look Like

For those of you who have been curious as to what a NST looks like the mystery ends here! Once arriving in the room, Candy (our awesome nurse who I'm happy to mention again!) places three straps around my belly. I then sit back in the recliner! Candy places a heart rate monitor on each baby (the one on the far left is her and the other on the lower right is him). She also places a contraction monitor on my belly (top right). All I have to do it sit there while the kids are monitored for 20 uninterrupted minutes and push the button (in my hand) any time I feel them move, all the while listening to their little heartbeats! At the end of the 20 minutes Candy comes in checks the sheet (on the left) and sends me on my way! Mom/Grandma was lucky enough to be part of the appointment today!

Today's BPP

Today we had another BPP. She passed all the tests but he didn't pass the breathing. They switched from last week (when she didn't do the breathing). Anyways, he was breathing but just not for his 30 uninterrupted seconds-not a concern at this stage. So I was sent on my way once the tech talked to our doctor. Before the BPP we had one of our bi-weekly NSTs which went great! Below are some pictures from today. We couldn't get a shot of his face but we did get some better ones of her! If you look at the pictures you can see the labeling the tech did. I'm just so thankful that things are going so well! I've started to have some swelling if I've been up and about a lot or after walking, so Candy (our nurse) gave me a few pointers on how to reduce it.

29 Weeks!

These pictures were taken Monday morning by my mom before we left Medora/Theodore Roosevelt National Park where we spent the weekend! The kids had many fun adventures-walking around downtown (they even got a little something), enjoying the pitchfork fondue (they were kind enough to cook my steak again so no pink was present, gotta protect the twins!), seeing the Medora Musical, going on a hike (1 mile was enough for us!), and last but not least...seeing my favorite animal-the Buffalo! I have no idea what it is about these big, brown animals but I adore them! We were lucky enough to see many and one up close and personal!

Yes, Another Post!

Yes, it's another post! That's 3 in less than 24 hours! But so much has been going on and I'm just so excited to share it all, especially with David who is too far away!

Today we had our first BPP, which stands for Bio Physical Profile. During the BPP each baby has 30 minutes to "perform" various tasks and receives points for doing so. Everything is monitored using the ultrasound machine. The areas checked are 30 seconds of uninterrupted breathing, 1 flexation (can be the hands, feet, fingers, toes...), 3 movements (kicks, turns...), and a reading of the cord blood to make sure that it is flowing correctly. I believe that's all, if I forgot something I'll be sure to add it later. We will be having BPPs once a week until the end of our pregnancy.

Today she (Twin A) did not complete the breathing section but after talking with the doctor we were given the ok, since at 28 weeks babies are just starting to practice their breathing. We did see her take breaths, just not for 30 seconds. She passed everything else. He (Twin B) passed all the tests! While the tech had the monitor on his face we could see him making movements with his mouth-like sucking! It was awesome! Both babies had the hiccups, which I have not felt on my own. I could feel his hiccups today though when she had the ultrasound wand pressing on him.

Below are face pictures the tech gave me. She's first (2 pitures) and it's a little difficult to make out her features because she was tucked in. Look for her eyes. He is second (2 pictures) and it's a little easier to see his features-eye, nose, and mouth!

Andover Baby Shower

This past Saturday, June 12, my mom and Melissa threw me and the twins a wonderful baby shower! It was beautiful and fantastic to be able to celebrate this special time with so many of our family and friends. After the shower my family stuck around and we had so more fun!

28 Weeks Pregnant!

My mom was our guest photographer for week 28, which begins our 3rd trimester. She took the pictures before I left Andover for my 8+ hour trip back to Minot! We (myself, the twins, Belle, and Beau) all made it back home safe and sound! Now to relax! And yes, the kids are missing Dad!

Heartbeats!

Just push play to hear the heartbeats-168 and 164!

Our appointment today went well, the only the thing missing was David! I have gained almost 30 pounds so far-not bad for two babies! I passed my glucose test which means I do not have gestational diabetes! My weight combined with not having gestational diabetes prompted my doctor to tell me to go out and eat anything I want! Little does he know that I may take him literally:) My belly is measuring 30+. Starting next week I'll have NSTs (Non Stress Tests) and an ultrasound every Tuesday (I'll be at the doctor's for a couple of hours!) and NSTs every Thursday! I guess God really does know what he's doing! I mean just think if I were working right now it would be impossible to make it to all of these appointments! So thank you God on your awesome planning!

Week 27

Here we are in the last week of our 2nd trimester! Time is truly flying! This past week has been wonderful! With school out and David gone (Yes, I miss him so much!) there is no schedule to follow! I've filled my time by having lunch with friends, reading, scrapbooking, and of course napping-everyday! The twins are still active and I love feeling them! Lucky for me they aren't keeping me up at night! This week's guest photographer was Donna. She took the pictures at my first ever play group date at Kelli's house! I cannot tell you how much I look forward to being home with the twins!
