Homeschool

I haven't been very good at taking pictures during homeschool lately but here are a few from the last month.

Lightbulb

Wednesday we went to see the longest burning lightbulb at the fire station near our house. When we walked up a fireman greeted us at the door and brought us to the lightbulb. As you can see the kids were thrilled about this;)  From there the visit got better because the firemen graciously gave us a full tour! We saw their bedrooms, kitchen, living room, weight room, patio and the kids were able to check out the trucks! They were pretty shy about it all but they did warm up a bit. It was such a nice little trip and a great surprise to be given a tour! Oh and firehats and gift bags!

Passed Another

Callie passed from Pufferfish to Catfish today!

Just a Little Date

Sunday afternoon David and I went in a date to The Restuarant at Wente and it was amazing! Good wine, good cheese plate, good hanger steak, good porkchop, good company. After lunch we headed over to the tasting room and for the first time we stood at the counter for our tasting! It was a totally different experience! Then we headed downtown for a little decaf and dessert!

Mardi Gras in California

Saturday we had a Mardi Gras party and it was great! Our excitement began on Thursday when the king cakes I ordered from Louisiana arrived! At the party we shared our beads, made crowns and ate yummy, yummy southern food! And most importantly we had the king cakes and all the kids found a baby in their piece-how wonderful! So fun sharing learned traditions with new friends! And check out the last picture-I combined CA and LA;)

Tahoe for the Long Weekend

We had a lot of fun in Tahoe but it was quite busy!  Luckily we had rented a house with a front and back yard for us to play in!  We made sledding hills, snow caves (complete with 2 entrances) and snowmen at the house.  Saturday day we made it to one of the ski hills for sledding and lunch.  We had hoped to go tubing but their tubing hill was closed due to weather so we were a bit bummed.  Sunday we went to Heavenly Ski Resort to take the gondola up the mountain.  It was closed Saturday due to the weather so of course it was packed on Sunday!  The ride up was beautiful and the overlook was gorgeous and cold and windy and the kids didn't like it so much, oh well.  At the top we had a snack in the lodge and planned to go tubing.  However, while we were eating they made an announcement that all sightseers and beginning skiers had to go to the gondola immediately because they were closing it due to weather.  So we were bummed again because once again no tubing!  But we did make it to the top so that's something!  Daily hot tubbing with drinks was a favorite as were playing games!  The kids are now Uno pros and have a liking for Chinese Checkers and Slap Jack!
