Muir Woods and Mt. Tamalpais
Saturday we went to Muir Woods to see the Redwoods. Grandma wanted to see the Redwoods but the most popular ones are 7 hours away-too far for a weekend! So we headed to Muir Woods which is only an hour and 30 minutes away. The weather was cool, misty and foggy which was just fine for seeing the trees. We did some hiking and saw a lot of cool trees. We even learned about burls! And please notice the leaf Liam is carrying-he had it the entire hike! From there we headed to Mt. Tamalpais where we had a picnic lunch in the clouds. After lunch we checked out the antigravity car, which is basically a railroad car that is open with bench seats. It used gravity to go down the mountain and stopped with a hand brake. I so wish it was still running today! Then it was voted on to take the short hike to the fire lookout. We were all a little skeptical at first since it was cloudy and foggy but after we had been at the top for a few minutes it cleared at we could see for miles! It was so beautiful! The highlight of my day! After that we swung by Muir Beach which was rumored to have tide pools but we were not impressed. Maybe it was the 5 dead birds we saw or the fact to Liam hit Callie in the head with a rock (he couldn't make that shot again if he tried!). The positive is that the sand was perfect for writing in! Before heading home we had dinner at the Pelican Inn which designed to look like an old English Inn. It was a busy day but sooo good!
