Pinnacles National Park
Saturday morning we headed to Pinnacles National Park. It's about 2 hours from and the drive isn't too bad at all. However, for the last little bit on a two lane road a guy was tail gating me terribly! So when it came time to turn into the park entrance I pulled over and let him zoom past me. And another car snuck ahead of us too. When we reached the gate the tail gating car went straight through to the parking lot and the sneaky car which was right in front of us was told that there were no more spots available! I was like are you kidding me! I should have been that last spot! So much for being nice and letting that car around me! Now he gets in and I don't. We sat there fuming for about 10 minutes in line before the ranger came up to our car and said I see that you have car seats, one spot has become available up ahead so you may drive the 3 miles up to Bear Gulch. Woohoo! Seriously! I guess getting that guy off my tail did pay off because we got front row parking to the exact trail head we wanted! No taking the tram/bus for us! So we had a little picnic and then headed off on a 3 mile hike through the bat caves! No bats were there which is why we could go all the was through. But there were waterfalls, ankle deep water, tight spots to maneuver through and we had to use flashlights! All in all it was totally worth the drive for a good day trip!
